SSDR is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and operated through a network of big hearts from Saskatchewan to British Columbia and down the US West Coast. All the dogs are housed with volunteer fosters throughout Saskatoon and surrounding areas. Our main mission is to rescue small breed dogs locally and from the high-kill shelters throughout California where overcrowding causes the untimely deaths of an alarmingly high number of innocent animals each and every day. Many of these dogs and puppies are literally rescued from death in the nick of time, as is true with SSDR's first rescue, a black chihuahua puppy named JOEY.
